The London Phoenix Orchestra is one of London's finest non professional symphony orchestras. The orchestra was founded in 1924 and currently performs 5 concerts per season at Sinfonia Smith Square, St Andrew's, Holborn and Cadogan Hall. Whilst the orchestra plays to an extremely high standard members are very friendly and many have played in the orchestra for a very long time, some for well over 40 years!
The orchestra has 5-7 rehearsals on Mondays from 6:35-8:45pm in the run up to each concert plus a dress rehearsal on concert day. Monday evening reherasals take place at St Thomas Moore Language College on Cadogan Street. A map can be found here. The orchestra does not meet on bank holidays.
The orchestra is partly funded by members' subs which currently stand at £295 per season or £80 per concert. Reduced subs are offered to students, the unwaged, retirees and graduates with student loans.
We are currently looking to increase numbers across all string sections and also on occassion have vacancies in other sections although our woodwind and brass sections are full at this time. If you are a string player interested in joining the orchestra and are of at least grade 8 standard with orchestral experience please reach out to us via our contact form.
